Previously unseen hanging tube lamp from early East German production | One-off

sold + tax

This extremely rare collector's item is the only one of its kind we've ever seen. It was therefore almost certainly made in a limited series shortly after the foundation of East Germany by the direct successor to the famous Leipzig manufacturer Kandem (Körting & Mathiesen). This dustproof, splash-proof light was doubtless used in heavy industry. Its unusual curved appearance sets it off from the straight-line designs so prevalent in the Eastern Bloc. It features a very unusual structure in which the cast aluminium ends holding the drawn-glass tubes are connected by three steel rods. The fluorescent tube is easy to replace with a standard modern tube. All the metal components have been repolished and the electrics reconditioned.
