These rare items contain all the typical materials of early industrial lamp production: Bakelite, glass, steel and porcelain. Probably produced in the 1950s in East Germany, they were used in dusty and damp areas of heavy industry. The Bakelite shade is fitted with a porcelain dome including a ceramic socket for E27 bulbs. A cylindrical piece of glass is screwed into the dome as protection against dust while the Bakelite junction box is connected to the porcelain dome by a short steel pendulum. The black exterior of the shade has been cleaned and is in very good condition while the interior has been refinished in light grey.
